Alpacas at Two Creek actually began in the fall of 2008 - sort of. That year, the very first Scotts Bluff County Fiber Fair was held in Gering, NE. Several fiber animals were represented, but one look at an alpaca was all it took - love at first sight. The next three years were full of research of all kinds - lots of reading, visiting many farms (even hands-on poop scooping in December), haunting internet alpaca sites, and going to alpaca shows where critters and owners were in abundant supply. Finally in December of 2011, we purchased eleven alpacas (five were pregnant and delivered in the fall of 2012.) We currently have twenty-seven alpacas, fifteen Muscovey ducks, and one guinea. Life is good.
We all live near Mitchell, Nebraska in beautiful Scotts Bluff County - the very western part of Nebraska - twenty miles from the Wyoming border and fifty miles from the Colorado line. Our farm is located one mile from the North Platte River, directly on top of the Old Trapper/Council Bluffs/Morman Trail (the name depends on the era and the politics.). Plan a visit soon.
