Silken Radiance was a bit of a "sleeper"--we knew he had great density and luster, with very well-defined ropey locks, but somehow the pieces didn't come together until he became a yearling.
But WHAT A DEBUT HE HAS HAD!! The judges (both Wini LeBreq and Babs Manion are known for their expertise in FIBER judging as well as comformation) just LOVED him at the International Alpaca Odyssey, awarding him first place in Halter and in Fleece, and the Color Championship in Halter! They were particularly excited about his fineness and LUSTER, and no wonder--this is the calling card of his sire, our Quechua Radiance.
On the other hand, his dam is a daughter of the fabulous Snowmass Silken Gold, who is also fabled for his fineness and luster! And there aren't a lot of suris with that famous name... But it's not only his gorgeous fleece that makes him such a winner--just get a gander at his BONE!! This is a male who will do well as a breeding macho...
