0535 Peruvian Lucinda

Peruvian Lucinda is owned by Mark and Jeanne McCall of Gray Barn Farms in Ohio. She's offered for sale individually, but at an unspeakable, irresistible price as a part of a special Collection obtained only via The Secret Meadow.

Lucinda is the ideal foundation dam, as evidenced by her tremendous production record for easy breeding, text-book birthing and excellent mothering qualities.

A daughter of the well-respected CPeruvian Donatello, Lucinda's got a strong personality and a bit of an "import" attitude, which means, "Hey - I AM AN ALPACA, SO DON'T TOUCH ME UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO, OKAY?"

Lucinda's fleece has nice density and a fair handle for a 12 year old gal, and she's dressed in a beautiful, warm beige. Her muzzle, the insides of her ears and her toe-nails hint at the color in her genes, even if it weren't obvious from the cria she's delivered over the years already - several of which are in lovely color.

When I asked Jeanne what she has to say about this gal, she stated, "Lucinda is a nice female to have...She is a very attentive mother and excellent milk producer. She has produced 6 excellent cria here at Gray Barn Farms."

Lucinda has correct conformation with substantial bone size without being "big" and bulky. She has always been a very healthy, strong dam. She is sound, and her dental bite is particularly impressive, especially given her age. Some older alpacas end up with a bit of a dental bite issue once senior, but Lucinda does not have that problem at all (see picture with this listing).

"Lucy gave birth to another MFG Peruvian Admiral cria in April and is currently open and due to be bred to our herdsire GBF Hermes. This should be a very nice pairing," says Jeanne. Lucy is being sold with her 2012 cria at her side!
