Let's start with his fleece. Open him up, anywhere on his body, including his legs, and you'll find lustrous, ropey, dense, fine locks. His consistency is incredible. His density is incredible. His luster is incredible. The quality and the quantity of his fleece is exceptional.
One thing that is very important to me is an alpaca's temperament. Maserati not only is very obedient and very gentle, he is perhaps the most intelligent alpaca on my farm. I ve been clicker-training him and he is the most receptive and the absolute fastest learner that I have. The only limiting factor in his training is the trainer, me.
Let's go to his pedigree. His sire is the Herdsire of Champions, Accoyo Torbio. He has all the positive, Accoyo traits that the pre-potent Torbio has been known to pass on. His dam is My Peruvian Capellini, a multiple blue ribbon dam of exceptional quality. She is by the rare and highly sought after Olajuwon, a true black known for throwing beautiful grey offspring. Capellini s dam, 4Peruvian Marinera, is one of the The Alpaca Trading Company's finest producing dams. Capellini has phenomenal fleece coming back, year after year, and is the one in Maserati's pedigree passing on a keen intelligence and beautiful color genes. This production package of Accoyo Torbio and Capellini is rock-solid!
In the Championship circle, Maserati competed against and won champion over the male that won championships at both the AOBA Nationals and the All American Futurity. In the shows that Maserati participated, he always came home with top winnings. He's a multiple champion in both halter and fleece shows.
The most coveted award given to an alpaca in an Alpaca Show is the Judge's Choice Award. In a show, every class is judged and if there are enough alpacas in the class, a Color Champion will be selected from each class. At the end of the show, all of the same sex Color Champions of each class of different colors and of different ages are scrutinized by the judges. These alpacas represent the absolute best of the show. From this fine selection of Color Champion alpacas is chosen the Champion of Champions, the Best of the Best, The Best of Show, The Judges Choice Award. At the largest Suri Alpaca showing in the world, with over 800 Suris represented at a US National Show, Maserati's Alfonzo won First Place in his class, won the Color Championship and then went on to win the Judge's Choice Award. For us, the real winners of the show were our stud, MASERATI, and our dam, CORINA. They created a masterpiece in Alfonzo! Our studs, Maserati and MacGyverson, both champions themselves, consistently produced champions. It is with pride and pleasure that we offer these two incredible studs to the alpaca world. They are both easy to handle and enjoy the art of mating more than life itself! In his first year of production, Maserati produced 4 color champions on our small ranch, one of which took Judge's Choice at the AOBA National Conference! He has definitely proved to be an incredible, consistent herd sire.
