At 2 years of age, Duncan sheared 8.44 lbs of 22 micron fleece with a 95% comfort factor.
At 11 years of age, Duncan sheared 7.25 lbs. of 25 micron fleece and a 85 % comfort factor.
Several years he sheared from 10 to nearly 12 lbs. of fleece! And he's not a huge boy!
We decided to try Duncan with our old black girl Ebony, who was sparse and coarse with a 33 micron and 66% OVER 30!!! (Ever heard of fleece so bad?) Ebony barely sheared 4 lbs. of fleece and we were starting to just leave most of it on her because she needed to be blanketed in the winter.
Out of this combination we got Iagan. Iagan sheared 7 lbs. of 24 micron fleece his first year.
We then tried Duncan again with Ebony and got Hazelnut. Her first year, Hazelnut sheared 7.2 lbs of 20 micron fleece. Her 2nd year, she sheared 8.44 lbs of 22 micron fleece!
We used Duncan with Ebony's daughter, Eilinoir. Eili had worse fleece than her mom her 3rd year with a 34 micron and 68% OVER 30!! Eili matched with Duncan produced Kait. In Kait's 1st year she had a 25 micron fleece; in her 3rd year she produced 6.95 lbs. of fleece.
We then matched Kait with Diomedes and got Logan. A
At 2 years, Logan sheared 6.56 lbs of 21.5 micron fleece, comfort factor 96.4.
At 3 years, Logan sheared 8.75 lbs of 22.9 micron fleece, comfort factor 92.9.
At 5 years, Logan sheared 6.0 lbs of 19.4 micron fleece, comfort factor 97.3.
THAT is generational improvement!
