I had just turned my back to leave the stable after feeding when I heard an uptick in humming. I turned around and there was Angel, starting to give birth.
Out came these legs and more legs and more legs and finally the head - Angel was delivering her baby in the stable on concrete!! As the baby was almost out, I caught it and laid it down so her head would not hit the concrete. That baby was ALLLLLL legs. The baby laid there and Angel walked outside.
I picked up the baby and took her outside and laid her down. Angel wondered off. I was worried that Angel would ignore her. Angel finished the birth process and I left them alone. I came back in about 3 hours and the baby was still laying there. It was dark and I was wondering if the baby would make it. We have always let mother nature take care of her animals.
The next morning, I went down and Destiny was up walking and nursing. Her very very long legs were bending in all different directions and she was not walking on the pads of her feet. She was walking on the TOPS of her pads. I contemplated taking her to the vet but once again I left it to her mother and mother nature.
Once again, if you let these animals do their own thing, they know what they are doing. Destiny has turned out perfect. Turns out if we leave them alone they tend to make it on their own.
