Tocayo

Tocayo is a handsome fawn herdsire with excellent conformation, heavy bone structure, large testicles, and silky golden locks that practically glow in the dark. When Tocayo was shorn, the shearer couldn't believe how soft he was for 4 years old. rnrnAt the 2005 Heart of the Valley Alpaca Adventure Shorn Halter show, judge Nard Mullen placed Tocayo 2nd in a very competitive class of former ribbon-winners, with praise for his correct conformation, attitude, depth of jaw and tail set.rnrnTocayo took 2nd out of 7 at the 2007 AlpacaMania Handcrafter's Spin-off competition for 3 to 5 year-old solids. He received high marks for staple length and structure, uniformity, fineness and brightness. His finished yarn and rovings are a beautiful pale gold color and incredibly soft!rnrnWith his Accoyo genetics, Tocayo has inherited dark color genes as well as excellent coverage down his legs and toes. His sire, Peruvian Tocto out of the legendary Accoyo PPPeruvian Yupanqui, has produced black, maroon and classic tuxedo grey offspring. Yupanqui himself was the #1 pick of the 1996 Peruvian importation and was singled out by Don Julio Barreda as one of the premier herdsires in the entire United States.rnrnTocayo also inherited dark color genes from his dam, QAI Cream Puff Penny. Penny, now deceased, gave us 2 striking bay black crias when bred to a rose grey and a black herdsire, and a handsome light brown cria when bred to silver grey.rnrnTocayo's first cria is here -- a handsome, crimpy, amber-colored male we named Amontillado (pictured above).
