McCHEYNE is the latest edition to our farm and he is a very handsome fellow!
We wanted to try out our own Dirk with Rhiannon, both white, and we got a light fawn boy! We were surprised but shouldn't have been because Dirk's grandsire is Onyx de Mico, a bay black, and Rhiannon's sire was medium rose gray Premier's Rubio. So there is lots of color standing behind both sides of McCheyne's illustrious heritage. You should click on his ARI Registration Certificate to see all the greats he has in his lineage.
McCheyne had a setback in his first year and had a load of parasites that it took awhile to figure out and treat. So although he gained 16 lbs in his first month, he then hovered at the same weight for quite some time. Once we got that figured out and eradicated, he is putting on more weight. Because of this, he is small for his age. We are hoping now that we have the problem solved, he will grow into a big studly boy.
He has a beautiful color of light fawn with a truly gorgeous head and is nice and square, sturdy and boxy.
His 2014 histogram is pretty sweet. He has a long staple length and looks dense so it will be interesting to see what kind of fleece weight he shears in 2015.
