Chinette was the first Suri Alpaca I ever purchased. I obviously didn t know very much about suris, I had three to chose from, and I was going in blind. I remember that one had particularly fine fleece, one had an easy-going temperament, and Chinette had this great tail. That's what I remember most about her. She was quite young and she had this wonderful, cork-screwed, curley tail. It was' t even brought to my attention. But, I remember thinking, if she has this great tail now, she probably will have great suri-like fleece when she gets older.
And now, what do I look for when I'm looking at a young alpaca? Yes, I look at its tail. What a lesson I learned from Chinette! The tail is a great indicator of the character of the fleece, its lock structure, its luster, and it s density. And Chinette has supported this thesis. She did end up with beautiful, locked, lustrous, dense fleece.
Chinette comes with rock solid blood lines. Her sire is Accoyo Gold by Accoyo Uribe and her dam is Pperuvian Celestina.
Chinette is the dominate dam in the herd. She always gets what she wants. She's the oldest, she knows the routine, and she teaches the younger alpacas the ropes. She's not mean or harsh with the other alpacas, she just lets them know who runs the show.
Chinette is also one of our best and one of our most consistent producers. Her offspring have all won first place and championships in the show ring. They all exhibit her fantastic fleece character and consistency. They are all perfectly obedient.
At this point in time, let's just say we really lucked-out in choosing Chinette to be part of our herd! I never thought that a great tail would eventually lead to an absolutely great alpaca!
Thank you to James and Leslie Loveless for parting with Chinette and allowing her to reign here at Alpine Suri Alpacas!
