Named after Austrailian pro NBA basketball player, Matthew Dellavedova of the Cleveland Cavaliers - Delle the alpaca's high quality lineage jump starts with his sire - Nic at Night, the multiple ribbon-winning Castano Bay son who has earned a ribbon in every show attended, including: Best of US, Buckeye, Huron Spring, Michigan International and AlpacaFest. His fleeced has earned top scores at Alpaca Nationals with a judge s comment of: Simply Yummy! Nic carries a dense fleece, with a high luster and an unmatched comfort factor and passes all of his fleece characteristics onto his offspring (high heritability rating).
LB Peruvian Castano Bay, is Delle s paternal grandsire who is the10x blue ribbon winner, with 6 offspring with Color/Color Reserve titles. Castano s sire is the industry standard for black, Black Magic. Nic's dam, Neiko, is the daughter of multi-champion Blackstone and the granddaughter of MacIntosh, who has over 8 multi-color champion and 25 blue ribbon winning offspring to his name.
Delle's Dam is Sweet Pea, whose genetics are based in the breeding program of one of first alpaca importers, Anthony Stachowski. Stachowski's alpacas have over a century of proven quality in the show ring at both a national and regional level. Sweet Pea's sire, Peruvian Grandstander has produced 6 multi-ribbon winning offspring. Her paternal grandsire, PPPeruvian Grand Master continues to fuel the Stachowski show string with over 130 offspring. Sweet Pea's dam, Bravida's Mystery genetics hales from alpaca industries leader in alpaca genetic improvement program, Snowmass Alpacas of Colorado.Their fleece improvements have resulted in the world's record for a raw fleece bale (any species) in 2014. In addition to his exceptional genetics, Delle has brilliant bright white, zipper crimpy fleece with a blinding luster and buttery handle. At nearly 9 months old, he already has a high bundling factor, and high frequency crimp structure from skin to fleece tip. We anticipate that his fleece will also make exceptional yarns, and next to skin products, and add desirable fleece characteristics to any dam's density, crimp structure and luster.
Personality wise- Delle is very social alpaca. He gets along well with his other herdmates, and is not aggressive. He is not intimidated by other males but will stand his ground if pushed. Delle has also taken well to halter training and is not bothered by wearing his halter. He is very good around kids and is curious toward all humans, loving the social attention, especially when humans are in his pen.
Delle has perfect conformation with an even distribution over his square frame, and a balanced proportion, of 1/3 neck/head, body, and legs. He is of average weight for his age and size and has above average bone size. He has a nice square stance, with all four legs evenly spaced and a nice topline. Delle also has normal teeth with proper alignment.
